Xbox Brings Back Friend Requests, Ditching Twitter-Style Followers
Remember the days when you could easily tell who your real friends were on Xbox? Well, those days are coming back. Xbox is currently testing a return to the old way of adding friends, ditching the Twitter-style follower system that was implemented a while back.
The Old Way
Before the revamp, Xbox One used a more traditional friend request system. If someone wanted to be your friend, they had to send you a request, and you could choose whether or not to accept it. This made it easier to manage your friend list and to know who you were actually connected with.
The Twitter-Style Follower System
When Xbox One revamped its friend system, it switched to a Twitter-style follower system. This meant that anyone who added you became a follower, whether you added them back or not. This made it harder to distinguish real friends from spammers and other unwanted followers.
The Return of Friend Requests
Xbox is now testing a return to the old way of adding friends. This change should make it easier to manage your friend list and to know who you are actually connected with. It will also help to reduce the number of spammers and unwanted followers on your list.
Benefits of Friend Requests
It’s great to see Xbox taking steps to improve its friend system. The return of friend requests is a welcome change that will make it easier to manage your friends and to connect with the people you actually want to be connected with.
