Throne and Liberty Off to Strong Start on Steam
Throne and Liberty, a South Korean free-to-play fantasy MMO, has made a strong start on Steam, hovering near the top of the concurrent charts. Despite mixed reviews, the game has managed to attract a large player base.
Concurrent Players and Launch Week Peak
Currently, Throne and Liberty is Steam’s sixth most played game, with 251K concurrent players according to SteamDB. This puts it behind popular games such as Black Myth: Wukong, Banana, PUBG, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike 2. However, its early launch week peak of 326,377 concurrent players pales in comparison to Amazon’s other releases, such as Lost Ark and New World.
Challenges and Controversies
Throne and Liberty’s arrival hasn’t been without incident. The game is currently rated Mixed on Steam, with players complaining about various issues, including shallow gameplay design and server woes. Additionally, the use of Easy Anti-Cheat has caused problems for Steam Deck and Linux players, rendering the game unplayable on those systems.
Cross-Play and Future Plans
Throne and Liberty is also available on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 with cross-play supported. Amazon will likely be watching the game’s performance on consoles closely, and may announce any successes in the future.
