Switch 2: A Hands-on Look at Leaked Mockup Images
While Nintendo skipped CES, the gaming world still got a glimpse of the potential Switch successor thanks to accessory maker Genki. They showcased a 3D-printed mockup, allowing for a hands-on experience and high-resolution photos.
A Bigger, More Comfortable Switch?
The Switch 2 mockup is wider than its predecessor, featuring slightly larger Joy-Cons designed for improved comfort. Though smaller than a Steam Deck OLED, it’s noticeably larger than the original Switch. The Joy-Cons attach magnetically, with a release button on the back of each controller for easy detachment.
Innovative Joy-Con Features
An interesting detail: the Joy-Cons house an optical sensor. With an additional attachment, they may offer mouse-like functionality, similar to Lenovo’s Legion Go.
The Leaks Continue
Rumors and leaks have intensified as Nintendo’s April 2025 announcement deadline approaches. Previous leaks included a 3D-printed mockup from a Chinese case manufacturer, showcasing a new USB-C port and a mysterious square button. Dbrand also revealed its “Killswitch 2” case, based on a 3D scan of what it claims is the real hardware, further fueling speculation.
The Verdict
While an official announcement is still awaited, these leaks and the hands-on experience with Genki’s mockup offer compelling clues about Nintendo’s next console. The images, at least, provide a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come.
