Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Flops, Rocksteady Cuts More Jobs
Rocksteady Studios, creators of the poorly-received Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, has reportedly laid off another six employees. This follows an earlier round of layoffs in September affecting 33 team members.
Layoffs and Game’s Poor Performance
The layoffs, affecting programming, art, and quality assurance staff, are a direct consequence of the game’s underperformance. Eurogamer reported on both rounds of layoffs, while Rocksteady itself remained silent. Warner Bros. Discovery reported the game caused a significant financial shortfall. The game received negative critical reception and weak sales.
Minimal Ongoing Support
With the studio shifting focus to new projects, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is receiving only “barebones” support. The game’s fourth and final season is currently underway, concluding on January 14th, with an offline mode recently added. While servers will remain online for now, the minimal post-launch support reflects the game’s commercial failure.
GameSpot Review Highlights Issues
GameSpot’s review criticized the game’s repetitive gameplay and its adherence to a formula that prioritized mindless player engagement over a compelling experience.
