Steam Controller 2 and Deckard VR Headset on the Horizon
Rumors suggest Valve is developing a Steam Controller 2, codenamed “Ibex”, currently in mass production. This follows Valve’s previous statement about wanting a successor to their cult classic Steam Controller.
More than just a Controller
Further fueling speculation, information points to a new Valve VR controller, codenamed “Roy”, also entering mass production. This wand-like controller, potentially for a standalone Deckard VR headset, might also function as a Steam Controller.
Roy’s potential dual functionality is noteworthy. Unlike the Index wands, it’s rumored to include a D-pad, bumpers, and ABXY buttons, making it suitable for traditional gaming.
Deckard VR Headset Details
The Deckard headset, previously rumored, is expected to launch alongside the Roy controllers. Its design might include an Arm chip, although this remains unconfirmed. Valve hasn’t officially confirmed any of these products, but the evidence suggests exciting new hardware is coming soon.
While Valve partnered with Hori for a licensed Steam gamepad, it’s not considered a true successor to the original Steam Controller.
