Sony InZone Monitors Offer Extended Warranty with Burn-in Protection
Sony has boosted the warranty on its InZone gaming monitors. The 27-inch M10S OLED monitor now comes with a three-year limited warranty that includes coverage for OLED burn-in. This is a significant upgrade from the initial one-year warranty offered at launch in September. Other InZone monitors retain their original warranty terms.
Addressing OLED Burn-in Concerns
Historically, manufacturers have been hesitant to address OLED burn-in under warranty, often classifying it as “normal use.” However, advancements in OLED technology have lessened its susceptibility to burn-in. Sony’s move follows a trend of manufacturers offering burn-in coverage. Alienware, LG, MSI, and Asus have also incorporated burn-in protection into their warranties for select OLED monitors.
Warranty Details and Important Considerations
While some manufacturers like Samsung may have general policies excluding burn-in, individual model warranties can vary. It’s crucial to check the specific warranty details for your chosen monitor model to confirm burn-in coverage. For example, a Samsung representative confirmed burn-in coverage for the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8, while coverage for the 27-inch model remains unclear. Always research thoroughly before purchasing.
