Sony is releasing a powerful upgrade to its PlayStation 5 console, the PS5 Pro. Development on the Pro model began before the base PS5 was even released. PlayStation platform business group CEO Hideaki Nishino discussed the improvements, which include advanced ray tracing and a faster GPU, enabling faster rendering.

Key Features of PS5 Pro

Nishino highlighted that the PS5 Pro is designed to provide an enhanced gaming experience, drawing on lessons learned from the PS4 Pro. He stated that the advanced technologies are designed to improve the console’s capabilities within the current PS5 generation, not to introduce a new generation of consoles.

Nishino emphasized that the PS5 Pro will not replace the standard PS5 but aims to provide an upgrade option. He said that the company anticipates that new users will be interested in the PS5 Pro, as well as those who are already highly engaged with PS5 gaming. The focus is on delivering the best possible experience for consumers within the PS5 generation.

Availability and Specifications

The digital-only PS5 Pro will be available on November 7th, priced at £699.99/$699.99. It will include a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and a copy of Astro’s Playroom.
