Sims Creator’s New AI Life Sim Proxi
Will Wright, creator of The Sims, unveils his new AI life sim, Proxi. First announced in 2018, Proxi lets players train an AI to create worlds from their memories.
How Proxi Works
Players record memories (“mems”) as text. The game interprets these and creates animated scenes. Players edit scenes, place memories on a timeline and mindmap, and build a private world from terraformable hexagons. Sentiment analysis influences the world based on memory emotions. Shared worlds are also possible.
The trailer shows adding Proxies of friends and family, playing games together, and exporting to other worlds (like Minecraft and Roblox).
Wright’s Vision
Wright explained on a Twitch stream that he aims for a deeply personal experience. He noted that making a game about the player increases engagement.
Proxi’s Future
Proxi is coming soon, with platforms yet to be announced. The game’s concept is powerful, but with AI perception shifting, Gallium Studios faces challenges explaining Proxi.
The rise of AI in game development is changing the industry. Tools like Google’s Genie2 are creating fully playable 3D worlds.
