Silent Hill 2 PS5 Pro Patch Addresses Graphics and Gameplay Issues
The PlayStation 5 Pro’s launch faced criticism, with players reporting that some games, including Silent Hill 2, looked worse on the Pro than on standard PS5 consoles. Konami and Bloober Team have released patch 1.06, addressing these issues. This patch isn’t exclusive to the PS5 Pro; it also includes fixes for the PC version on Steam.
Prior to the update, PS5 Pro players experienced various glitches and visual distortions absent on standard PS5s. Ironically, this isn’t the first time a Silent Hill 2 patch created more problems than it solved. Patch 1.04 aimed to improve Steam performance and fix PS5 crashes, but introduced new bugs, prompting the release of patch 1.05, which subsequently revealed PS5 Pro performance issues.
Patch 1.06 Highlights
The developers have acted swiftly to address these problems. The decision by CD Projekt Red not to create a PS5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077 highlights the challenges developers face with PS5 Pro optimization.
PS5 Pro Fixes (Partial List):
- Fixed graphics glitches
- Fixed door markers on Brookhaven Hospital map
- Improved traversal spots; fixed enemy getting stuck
- Fixed audio glitches in Toluca Prison
- Fixed various issues with Maria’s navigation and dialogue
- Fixed final boss issues
- Improved boss animations
- Fixed progression-blocking issues
- Fixed lighting and object issues
The full patch notes detail extensive fixes across gameplay and technology for both PS5 and PC versions. Hopefully, this patch provides a smoother Silent Hill 2 experience for all players.
