Resident Evil 2 Remake Mobile Port Flops
Capcom’s mobile port of the Resident Evil 2 Remake has underperformed, mirroring the poor reception of Resident Evil 7 on iOS last year. Data from Appmagic, via Mobilegamer.biz, reveals that in-app purchase earnings barely surpassed $100,000.
A Disappointing Launch
The game, released in December, offers a free trial with a paywall for the full experience. A discounted price of $10 during the initial weeks generated most of the revenue. After the price increased to $40, additional revenue was minimal.
This isn’t an isolated incident for Capcom’s mobile ports. While Resident Evil 2 Remake performed better than Resident Evil 7 on iOS, its performance still indicates a trend of underachievement for the company’s mobile releases.
What’s Next for Resident Evil?
Despite the setbacks, Capcom continues to develop the Resident Evil franchise. Last year, Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed the studio was working on a new entry in the series.
