Raccoon Logic Unleashes Google Satire in Revenge of Savage Planet
Raccoon Logic is taking its Journey To The Savage Planet sequel to new heights by incorporating the team members’ personal experiences as developers for Google into the game.
A Personal Touch
According to Raccoon Logic creative director Alex Hutchinson, the team’s experience working for Google played a significant role in shaping the game’s narrative. Hutchinson expressed his dissatisfaction with Google, stating that the company is “horrible.” This sentiment is reflected in the game’s storyline, where the player’s corporation, Kindred Aerospace, is acquired by an even-bigger conglomerate, Alta Interglobal.
A Satirical Take
The game’s narrative takes a satirical approach, poking fun at Google’s business practices. Players will embark on an intergalactic quest to help secure worlds for their new parent company, only to find out that they’ve been laid off along with their entire team back home.
The game’s visuals are just as colorful and vibrant as its predecessor, with Unreal Engine 5 providing a noticeable graphical upgrade. Players will travel between multiple planets, exploring semi-open worlds and completing puzzle-filled level designs.
Gameplay Enhancements
The game features a third-person perspective, allowing for more manageable gameplay and a distinct personality. Players will also have access to new mechanics, such as various substances changing up the friction of a planet’s surface and a lasso tool for capturing aliens.
A Sustainable Approach
Raccoon Logic prioritized creating a sustainable studio that avoids crunch. To achieve this, the team focused on getting the game into a playable alpha phase quickly and iterating from there.
Revenge of the Savage Planet is set to launch in the first half of 2025 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
