PUBG’s AI Buddy: A Smart Co-op Teammate
Get ready for a revolution in gaming AI! Krafton has introduced Co-Playable Characters (CPCs) to PUBG, essentially AI companions designed to act like real human teammates. These aren’t just bots; they move, shoot, and even talk like players.
Powered by AI
The magic behind these AI companions is a combination of an on-device small language model (SLM) and Nvidia’s ACE technology. Nvidia’s ACE uses generative AI for realistic conversation and reactions to your voice commands. It’s essentially a smart AI partner with chatbot functionality.
Nvidia’s ACE technology enables companions that understand and help players achieve their goals, while enemies adapt to player strategies. The language model allows for human-like decision-making, aided by multi-modal SLMs for vision and audio, enabling AI to react to environmental cues.
Meet Your PUBG Ally
In PUBG, you’ll team up with “PUBG Ally,” responding to commands like finding specific gear or rushing to your side. Expect some playful banter too! While a release date is pending, Krafton plans to introduce more CPCs.
Beyond PUBG
This technology extends beyond PUBG. Krafton’s upcoming life simulation game, inZoi, will feature “Smart Zoi” CPCs acting as human-like NPCs to support your character.
