PS5 Pro Supercharges Resident Evil Performance
The PS5 Pro significantly enhances the Resident Evil series, especially Resident Evil 7, RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 4 Remake. These games, powered by Capcom’s RE Engine, benefit from the Pro’s increased GPU power and advanced PSSR upscaling.
Key Improvements
Only RE4 Remake and RE Village have official PS5 Pro updates, adding a 120Hz mode. Other titles receive performance boosts but retain the same visual settings as the standard PS5 version. Resident Evil Village utilizes PSSR upscaling to achieve 4K resolution, offering a more stable image than the base PS5’s checkerboarding, though with some trade-offs in sharpness and hair detail.
RE Village’s 60fps mode with ray tracing is much more stable on the PS5 Pro, and the 120Hz mode runs nearly flawlessly without ray tracing. Resident Evil 4 Remake also sees major improvements, enabling a consistent 60fps experience with ray tracing enabled, something not achievable on the base PS5 without sacrificing visual quality. However, its 120Hz mode isn’t as consistently locked.
RE7, RE2 Remake, and RE3 Remake also receive substantial performance gains on PS5 Pro, especially with ray tracing enabled, achieving near-locked 60fps and improved 120Hz performance. The PS5 Pro tackles the performance issues that plagued these titles on the base console.
While visual enhancements beyond frame rate are minimal, the PS5 Pro delivers a significant improvement to the overall performance of the Resident Evil series, making ray tracing and high frame rates a reality across most titles.
