PS Plus to Phase Out PS4 Games in 2026
Sony has announced a significant change to PlayStation Plus: PS4 games will be phased out starting January 2026. This shift allows Sony to focus its efforts on delivering new PS5 titles.
What’s Changing?
Beginning in January 2026, PS4 games will no longer be a core offering within PlayStation Plus’s Monthly Games and Game Catalog. Sony clarified that they may occasionally offer PS4/PS5 compatible titles after this date.
Important Note: This change doesn’t affect PS4 games already redeemed by subscribers. As long as your subscription remains active, you retain access to these games. Additionally, PS4 games will remain playable in the Game Catalog until they are rotated out of the monthly refresh.
Sony’s Future Plans for PS Plus
Sony plans to continue evolving PS Plus, promising to optimize its benefits. Their focus will be on providing more new PS5 titles on a monthly basis.
February’s PS Plus Games
This announcement was made alongside the reveal of February 2025’s free PS Plus games: Payday 3, High on Life, and Pac-Man World: Re-Pac. These games are available to all PS Plus subscribers.
In short: While PS4 games will become less frequent in the PS Plus offerings, existing redeemed games will remain accessible, and the service will continue to evolve with a greater emphasis on PS5 titles.
