Path of Exile 2: Act 3 Mushroom Quest Guide

Deep in Act 3 of Path of Exile 2, you’ll find uniquely colored mushrooms. These green-highlighted items hint at a hidden quest, but the game offers no guidance. This guide reveals the secret.

Finding the Mushrooms

Three colored mushrooms—blue, green, and red—appear as loot drops in the Apex of Filth region (level 41). This area is part of the main storyline, located atop the pyramid on the Act 3 map.

Mushrooms drop randomly; killing enemies, opening chests, and defeating bosses are all possibilities. Cruel difficulty may increase drop rates.

If you’ve exhausted the area and still lack mushrooms, create a new instance:

• Access a Waypoint and select the map.
• Click the map icon (or hold A/X on controller, Ctrl + Left Click on keyboard) to open the instance manager.
• Create a new instance.
• This resets the map, respawning enemies and bosses.

Using the Mushrooms

Once you’ve collected all three mushrooms, locate the Cauldron and the Cauldron Keeper NPC within the Apex of Filth (usually near a checkpoint). Interact with the cauldron; your character will say, “Here is everything you need.” After a moment, the cauldron ignites, rewarding you with a Mana Flask and a Life Flask, often of superior quality.

This completes the hidden quest. The Cauldron Keeper sells items, but isn’t needed to finish this quest.
