NYT’s Hit Word Game, Strands, Joins the Games App
Great news for word puzzle fans! Strands, the popular word search game from the New York Times, is now officially available in the NYT Games app for iOS and Android.
The game has quickly become a favorite since its beta launch in March. Each Strands puzzle features a theme that guides players to find themed words, culminating in the discovery of the “spangram” word that stretches across the puzzle. Need a hint? Find three non-themed words for assistance.
Why Strands is a Hit
Strands ranks as the NYT’s third most searched game, following Wordle and Connections. Its popularity is comparable to Spelling Bee. The game boasts a high completion rate, with many players successfully finding the daily spangram.
Not All NYT Games Are Created Equal
While Wordle, Connections, and Strands have proven successful, not all NYT games achieve the same level of popularity. The math-based puzzle game, Digits, for example, had a shorter lifespan.
Correction, June 27th: An earlier version misspelled the key word as spanagram; it is correctly spelled spangram.
