No PC Port: Code Violet Avoids Vulgar Mods
TeamKill Media, the developer of the upcoming PS5 exclusive title Code Violet, a Dino Crisis-like game, has announced it will not be releasing a PC version. The reason? The studio wants to prevent players from creating and distributing sexually explicit mods of its characters.
Protecting the Team’s Vision
In a statement on social media, TeamKill Media explained that they hold their voice actors and actresses in high regard and do not want their artistic vision tarnished by vulgar modifications. They stated that the potential extra revenue from a PC release is not worth the risk.
This decision echoes similar stances taken by other game developers. Koei Tecmo, for example, has taken action against numerous provocative Dead or Alive fan art images, while Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s director also requested PC players refrain from installing inappropriate mods.
A Contrast to Mod-Friendly Games
This contrasts sharply with the approach taken by Larian Studios, developers of Baldur’s Gate 3, who have embraced the modding community and even celebrated their milestone of over 100 million mod downloads.
Code Violet is slated for release in July 2025, exclusively on PS5.
