Nintendo Switch 2: A Closer Look
While Nintendo remains tight-lipped about the Switch 2, gaming accessory maker Genki has offered a revealing glimpse. Based on a 3D model reportedly derived from an actual Switch 2 console, the upcoming system appears significantly larger than its predecessor.
Size and Design
Videos and images show the Switch 2 dwarfing the original Switch in both length and width. A French tech site, Numerama, reported Genki’s model boasts a second USB-C port and a mysterious C button on a Joy-Con. German site Neztwelt estimates an 8-inch or larger display, and suggests a mechanical connection for the Joy-Cons, rather than magnetic.
New Joy-Con Mechanics
Genki released a video showcasing the Joy-Cons’ attachment. Instead of the original Switch’s vertical slide, these snap on horizontally. A lever on the back facilitates detachment. The inner edges, including a visible optical sensor, closely match leaked images, fueling speculation about mouse-like functionality.
Release Date Speculation
A Genki representative anticipates an April release, shortly after Nintendo’s self-imposed deadline for an official announcement. The anticipation is building, as third-party accessory makers are eager for more information.
