Nintendo Ending Animal Crossing Mobile Services November 2023
Nintendo has announced that online service for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will be ending on November 28th at 11AM ET, seven years after launching on iOS and Android.
What This Means for Current Players
Nintendo has assured current players that they will still be able to fully enjoy the game for three more months. The company will continue to hold events and add items until the service-end date. However, Leaf Tickets will no longer be available for purchase starting on November 27th. Additionally, new monthly Pocket Camp Club subscriptions will no longer be accepted as of October 28th, and existing subscriptions will not automatically renew.
A New Version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
Although the online service for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is ending, Nintendo has announced that a new version of the game is currently in development. This new version will be a paid app without in-app purchases and will not require a constant internet connection to be played. Players will be able to carry over their save data to the new version by linking their Nintendo accounts.
The new version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is expected to be revealed in October. This announcement is part of Nintendo’s slow shift away from mobile, as the company has not released many mobile games in recent years.
Some of Nintendo’s notable mobile games include Miitomo, Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem: Heroes, and Mario Kart Tour. Although the company is ending the online service for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, it is not shutting down the game entirely, unlike its free-to-play mobile game Dragalia Lost.
