Nintendo Direct: Super Nintendo World’s Donkey Kong Country Expansion Revealed
Get Ready for a Barrel Blast: Donkey Kong Country Expansion Showcased
Nintendo is set to reveal the highly anticipated Donkey Kong Country expansion for Super Nintendo World in a 10-minute Nintendo Direct stream on Monday at 5PM ET. This announcement is a welcome sign for the theme park expansion, following a delay earlier this year.
The Donkey Kong Country area, first announced in 2021, will feature a thrilling mine cart rollercoaster ride. Earlier this year, Nintendo and Universal Studios showcased a digital render of the expansion, confirming that the Orlando, Florida version of Super Nintendo World will feature the same attractions as its Osaka counterpart when it opens on May 22nd, 2025.
While fans might be eager for news about the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo has clarified that the Direct will focus solely on the Donkey Kong Country expansion and “no game information will be featured.”
Expect Jaw-Dropping Action and Interactive Experiences
Nintendo revealed in May that the expansion’s Mine-Cart Madness rollercoaster will feature “jaw-dropping maneuvers,” including being “blasted out of a barrel, seemingly jumping over gaps as they speed along the rickety track.” Visitors can also expect to find Donkey Kong-themed merchandise and interactive experiences throughout the expansion.
