Netflix’s New Word Game: Another Wordle Clone?
Netflix has launched TED Tumblewords, a daily word puzzle game developed in partnership with TED. This new addition to their gaming library joins other word games like Word Trails, and enters a crowded market of similar mobile titles.
Gameplay and Features
TED Tumblewords challenges players to rearrange nine letters on a three-by-three grid to create the longest words possible. The game features three modes:
- Daily Six: Create six words to beat your high score.
- Daily Ladder: Progress through five levels, each requiring a certain point total.
- Daily Match: Compete against TED’s AI or other players.
Similar to Wordle, it includes a daily streak feature and social sharing options. A unique element is the inclusion of “Knowledge Cards” offering fun facts, unlocking badges upon completion of collections.
Is it Worth Playing?
While not revolutionary, TED Tumblewords offers a familiar, potentially addictive gameplay loop. It draws inspiration from games like Word Cookies and Wordle, incorporating elements from each. Its accessibility through Netflix’s subscription or TED.com/games makes it a convenient time-killer.
Availability
TED Tumblewords is available now on iOS and Android devices. A Netflix subscription is required for mobile play, but it’s free to play on TED.com/games.
