NBA Star Donovan Mitchell’s Call of Duty Plea
Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Donovan Mitchell is facing a challenge off the court: his Call of Duty skills aren’t quite as stellar as his basketball prowess. Mitchell recently revealed his struggles with the game, even admitting it’s the reason for his raspy voice.
A Gamer’s Lament
In a press appearance, Mitchell shared his frustrations, stating, “I’ve been playing Call of Duty with these kids, screaming at them and stuff, that’s where the voice goes. It’s been rough… I genuinely try to get better, which makes me even more upset.” He even resorts to studying gameplay on his phone and TikTok, to no avail. His tweet further highlights his frustration: “I’ve been playing Call of Duty with these kids and screaming at them and stuff. So that’s where the voice goes… I genuinely try to get better, which makes me even more upset.”
Mitchell believes he’s constantly matched with far superior players, possibly due to his basketball career. His solution? A direct appeal to Call of Duty: “I reached out to Call of Duty, like, ‘Hey, put me in the trash lobbies, that’s where I belong.’ We’ll see what happens.”
Call of Duty’s Recent Developments
This plea comes amidst a flurry of activity from Activision. Recent releases include a stoner-lizard DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone and a new patch addressing game issues. The developers also admitted their anti-cheating measures “did not hit the mark” and pledged improvements. A Squid Game collaboration is also on the horizon.
Will Mitchell’s plea be answered? Only time will tell if the NBA star gets the more manageable matches he desires.
