IO Interactive Plans James Bond Game Trilogy
IO Interactive, the developer behind the popular Hitman series, is planning to create a James Bond game trilogy. In an interview with IGN, IO boss Hakan Abrak revealed that the team has had “20 plus years of training for the agent fantasy” thanks to their experience with Hitman.
A New Bond for Gamers
Abrak emphasized that the upcoming James Bond game will be an original story, not a gamification of a movie. The team is building a new Bond from the ground up specifically for gamers. This new Bond will be part of a larger universe that IO Interactive hopes to create, allowing gamers to own and grow with the character.
A Potential Classic
Abrak noted that it’s been almost 15 years since the last James Bond game, and the team sees this as a strength. They aim to create a game that will define James Bond in gaming for years to come, not just a single game but a universe that will grow alongside the Bond movies.
What’s Next
IO Interactive first announced the James Bond game in 2020, but very little has been shared since. Abrak promised that more information will be coming soon, and the production is going amazingly well. The team is also working on publishing duties for MindsEye, a big-budget action adventure game.
