Hi-Fi Rush Studio Saved, Reborn Under Krafton
Tango Gameworks, now Tango Gameworks Inc., has been reborn under the wing of Krafton Inc., the publisher of PUBG. The studio, previously under Xbox Game Studios, faced closure before Krafton’s intervention.
A Narrow Escape
Tango announced its “new start” on X, marking its first post since May 7, 2024, when it announced its impending closure. This closure was part of Microsoft’s decision to shut down four studios, including Arkane Austin. However, Krafton stepped in to acquire Tango in August, securing the rights to Hi-Fi Rush.
Hi-Fi Rush and the Future
Founded in 2010, Tango is known for the The Evil Within series (remaining with Microsoft). Development on Hi-Fi Rush 2 was underway before the Microsoft closure; however, a sequel isn’t officially confirmed. Krafton acknowledges that Hi-Fi Rush 2 might not be profitable, but they’re open to the possibility should Tango choose to proceed.
Krafton’s Vision
Krafton CEO Changhan Kim emphasized the importance of supporting Tango’s creativity and fostering new gaming experiences. The surprise hit rhythm-action game, Hi-Fi Rush, released early in 2023, played a significant role in this acquisition.
