GTA 3 and Vice City Depart Netflix Game Library Soon
Grand Theft Auto’s Time on Netflix Ends
Get ready, GTA fans! Netflix is removing Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition from its mobile gaming library on December 13th. This comes one year after Netflix initially added Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy to its platform.
While this is a blow for fans, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition will remain available on the service. Interestingly, San Andreas was reported as the most popular of the three titles during their time on Netflix.
What Happened?
The Netflix releases were based on Grove Street Games’ remasters, featuring quality-of-life improvements including a popular “Classic Lighting” mode. The removal follows a major update to the console and PC versions, which incorporated those mobile improvements.
After December 13th, players wishing to continue enjoying GTA 3 and Vice City will need to purchase them from the Google Play Store or iOS App Store.
Netflix’s First Major Game Removal
This marks Netflix’s first significant game removal, signaling that titles aren’t guaranteed to stay indefinitely. A Netflix representative confirmed that license expirations dictate game removals, with advance app notifications for users.
