Fortnite Cheater Sued by Epic Games for Cheating
Epic Games is taking legal action against Fortnite player Sebastian Araujo for cheating in tournaments. The lawsuit alleges Araujo used aimbot and wallhacks, gaining an unfair advantage and winning thousands of dollars in prize money.
Epic Games’ Stance on Cheating
Epic Games states that Araujo’s actions ruined the experience for other players who followed the rules. Brent Coyle, Competitive Director at Epic Games, emphasized their commitment to fair competition and announced fundamental changes to combat cheating, including legal action against rule breakers.
Previous Legal Actions Against Cheaters
This isn’t Epic’s first anti-cheating lawsuit. They previously won a case against an Australian Fortnite cheater, donating the settlement to charity. Other examples include a PUBG cheat-maker ordered to pay a large sum and a Destiny 2 cheater receiving a hefty fine and a permanent ban.
The Impact of Araujo’s Actions
The lawsuit highlights the severity of cheating in competitive gaming. Araujo’s alleged actions deprived other players of a fair chance to win prize money, underscoring Epic Games’ dedication to maintaining a level playing field for all Fortnite competitors.
