FIFA’s Blockchain Mobile Game: FIFA Rivals Arrives Summer 2025
After the split with EA in 2022, FIFA is launching a new mobile game, FIFA Rivals, in Summer 2025, developed in partnership with Mythical Games. This free-to-play game will feature head-to-head matchups with arcade-style gameplay.
Gameplay and Features
FIFA Rivals will offer in-game transactions utilizing blockchain technology, allowing players to buy, sell, and trade officially licensed soccer stars to enhance their lineups. While a trailer is yet to be released, a teaser confirms the Summer 2025 launch.
FIFA’s Other Gaming Ventures
This isn’t FIFA’s only recent gaming endeavor. They’ve partnered with Konami for two FIFAe World Cup tournaments, utilizing Konami’s eFootball platform for mobile and console competition. This esports agreement notably excludes any rebranding of eFootball or the release of a new FIFA-branded console game.
The Future of FIFA Gaming
With EA focusing on its EA Sports FC series, Konami and 2K are the most likely candidates for future FIFA console game partnerships, should FIFA decide to return to console gaming. EA, meanwhile, reports comparable sales with its EA Sports FC series compared to its previous FIFA titles.
