FFXVI Producer Wants PC Modders to Chill
A Hilarious Plea
Final Fantasy XVI has arrived on PC, and its producer, Naoki Yoshida, has a request for the modding community: keep it clean. In an interview with PC Gamer, he asked players to refrain from creating “offensive or inappropriate” mods. This, of course, has been met with general amusement, given the internet’s established track record.
Yoshida’s plea isn’t entirely surprising. Similar requests were made when Final Fantasy XV launched on PC in 2018. Director Hajime Tabata also hoped for mods to be “in good taste,” a sentiment echoed by Yoshida. However, asking the internet to resist the urge to create, shall we say, “spicy” mods for a game featuring Clive Rosfield is a bit like asking a chocobo to stop making its signature sound.
The Challenge: The internet’s reaction is predictable. While Yoshida likely isn’t worried about harmless mods like turning characters into babies, the inevitable “spicier” content is practically guaranteed. Whether this is a genuine plea or company policy remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the PC modding community will have its fun.
