Dragon Age: Veilguard’s Stunning Minrathous Concept Art Revealed
Early concept art for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, created a decade ago, has been revealed by BioWare veteran Matt Rhodes. The art showcases a strikingly familiar Minrathous, the capital of Tevinter and the game’s opening location.
A Decade in the Making
Rhodes’ artwork, depicting a powerful magister carried on a palanquin by elven slaves and adventurers evading mage patrols, offers a fascinating glimpse into the game’s early development. This initial concept art, created even before the launch of Dragon Age: Inquisition’s final expansion, Trespasser, demonstrates how much of The Veilguard’s vision was established years in advance.
Additional artwork from 2014, also shared by Rhodes, shows remarkable similarities to the final game, including images of Solas and even a depiction of his ritual from the game’s opening.
From Multiplayer to Masterpiece
The Veilguard’s development journey included a period where multiplayer elements were considered, ultimately dropped. The final product, a single-player experience, is lauded by many as some of BioWare’s best work. Eurogamer’s review calls it “the best Dragon Age, and perhaps BioWare, has ever been.”
