Donkey Kong Returns to Switch with Easier Mode
Get ready for some barrel-blasting action! Donkey Kong Country Returns is swinging back onto the Nintendo Switch in January with a brand-new feature: an easier mode.
Modern Mode vs. Original Mode
The original game’s challenging difficulty remains intact in Original Mode. However, the new Modern Mode offers a more forgiving experience. Key differences include:
- Three hearts instead of two.
- Ability to carry up to nine items.
This easier difficulty setting takes inspiration from the 3DS version’s New Mode, which also provided an extra heart and more item variety.
More Than Just an Easier Mode
This HD re-release blends elements from both the Wii and 3DS versions. Expect to enjoy:
- Joy-Con motion controls for ground-pounding.
- Co-op mode using one pair of Joy-Con controllers.
The release coincides with the addition of Donkey Kong Land Game Boy games to Nintendo Switch Online and the opening of the Donkey Kong Country theme park expansion at Universal Studios Japan.
