Control 2: Expanding on the Supernatural
Remedy Entertainment’s highly anticipated sequel, Control 2, is shaping up to be a significant expansion on the original. Confirmed as an action-RPG, it promises to retain the core elements that made the first Control a hit while enhancing player agency and RPG mechanics.
More RPG, Wider Appeal
While the “action-RPG” label might evoke comparisons to games like Diablo, Remedy assures fans that Control 2 will remain true to its roots. The developers emphasize a focus on storytelling and spectacle, but with a stronger emphasis on player exploration and deeper RPG systems. The sequel aims for a wider audience, though specifics remain undisclosed.
Free Update and Mac Release
In other news, Control players can look forward to a free update in early 2025 unlocking previously released content, potentially including various DLC outfits like the Extradimensional Suit and the Tactical Response outfit. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition will arrive on Mac on February 12, 2025.
What to Expect
Although a release window for Control 2 isn’t available yet, the upcoming multiplayer spin-off, FBC Firebreak, launching next year, should help tide fans over. A sneak peek at the sequel can also be found in Alan Wake 2: The Lake House DLC.
