Bloober Team Shifts Gears for Better Games After Success
Bloober Team has faced criticism and skepticism from the gaming community, but the studio is determined to prove themselves with their new game, Cronos: The New Dawn. Following the success of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, the team is eager to show that they can create something special from scratch.
A New Direction for Bloober Team
Director/designer Wojciech Piejko stated that the team doesn’t want to make a similar game to Silent Hill 2. Instead, they’re opting for a sci-fi horror game that moves through time and space. Cronos: The New Dawn is set in a future ravaged by a pandemic and inhabited by monstrous mutants, and also takes players back to communist Poland in the 1980s.
The game’s plot is inspired by Netflix’s Dark, and the team is aiming to create a complex and thought-provoking story. Piejko mentioned that the game is not intended to be a commentary on COVID-19, but rather a story that explores the consequences of time travel.
Overcoming Challenges and Proving Themselves
The team faced significant pressure and criticism during the development of Silent Hill 2 Remake. However, they persevered and delivered a well-received game. Now, they’re determined to prove that they can create a successful original IP.
“We want to be a horror company,” said director/producer Jacek Zieba. “We want to find our niche, and we think we found our niche, so now we just—let’s evolve with it.” The team is committed to creating horror games and is eager to show that they have what it takes to succeed in the genre.
Cronos: The New Dawn is set to release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The team is confident that their new game will demonstrate their growth and ability to create complex and engaging horror games.
