Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Footage Emerges, But What Does it Reveal?
This week’s DF Direct took a look at the Black Myth: Wukong benchmarking tool, and the lack of video footage of the PlayStation 5 version in action. However, a short snippet of gameplay captured from the console did appear online, giving us a glimpse into the game’s performance.
The Footage: A Mixed Bag
The footage, captured from the PS5, shows the game targeting 60fps, but with some heavy hits to frame-rate when screen-filling effects are present. The quality of the footage is poor, with compression artifacts and muddy visuals. Despite this, we can see that the game does not have any screen-tearing.
Frame Generation: A Likely Culprit
Further analysis of the footage suggests that AMD FSR 3 frame generation may be in use. The animation of particles and the way the UI appears to animate at half-rate support this theory. However, without more context, it’s difficult to say for certain.
The emergence of this footage has raised more questions than answers. We’ll have to wait until we go hands-on with the game to discover more about its performance and quality. The PlayStation 5 version of Black Myth: Wukong unlocks soon, and we’ll be doing our best to bring you coverage as quickly as possible.
