Battlemarked: VR Dungeons & Dragons Game Announced
Battlemarked: Immersive VR D&D Experience
Get ready to roll some dice in virtual reality! Wizards of the Coast and Resolution Games have finally revealed their highly anticipated VR adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked.
A New Way to Play D&D
Built upon Resolution Games’ Demeo system, Battlemarked offers a virtual tabletop experience with turn-based combat and an action point system using playing cards. Unlike traditional D&D, it doesn’t require a Dungeon Master (DM), focusing instead on strategic gameplay and decision-making.
Key Features and Platforms
- Two story-driven campaigns for up to four players at launch.
- Availability on VR, PC, and consoles (specific devices yet to be announced, but likely similar to Demeo’s platform support: Meta Quest, Pico, SteamVR, PlayStation VR2, PlayStation 5, PC, Mac, and iPad).
- Stunning art style consistent with the familiar Wizards of the Coast aesthetic.
- Playable classes and races include a Dragonborn fighter and a Tiefling rogue, with more to be revealed.
What We Don’t Know Yet
While a trailer showcases the exciting visuals and gameplay, the launch date and price remain unannounced, along with details about the initial campaigns. Future campaigns set in different D&D settings are planned.
D&D’s Expanding Universe
Battlemarked arrives amid D&D’s surging popularity, fueled by successful series like Critical Role and Dimension 20, video games such as Baldur’s Gate 3, and the recent film Honor Among Thieves.
