Assassin’s Creed Shadows: A Deep Dive into Combat and Stealth
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, releasing February 14th, 2025, offers a revamped combat and stealth experience. This blog post summarizes the recently revealed details.
Revamped Combat System
The game features light and heavy attacks, along with new charged “Posture Attacks.” Defensive maneuvers include dodges, parries, and blocks, varying between the two protagonists: shinobi Naoe and samurai Yasuke.
Naoe excels in stealth, utilizing a katana, kusarigama, and tanto (dual-wieldable with her Hidden Blade). Yasuke, more durable, can switch weapons mid-combo and employs a sheathed posture attack. His arsenal includes a katana, naginata, kanabo, yumi bow, and teppo.
Diverse Enemy Types
Players will face various foes: outlaws, Ashigaru conscripts, samurai ronin, Samurai Daisho, and elite Guardians.
Enhanced Stealth
A previous deep dive detailed Shadows’ overhauled stealth mechanics, retaining the insta-kill assassination option.
Ubisoft’s Perspective
Ubisoft addressed the impact of the previous backlash regarding diversity and inclusivity and explained the delay as necessary to ensure the game’s quality.
