Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks: New Dock, Controllers, and More
New leaks suggest exciting features for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. A Redditor, “NextHandheld,” claims to have seen a retail unit, sharing photos of a new dock and controller. The dock, unlike previous leaks, isn’t included in circulating 3D scans.
Name and Date
While officially called the “successor to Nintendo Switch,” the console may launch as the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo aims for an announcement by March 31st, 2025, with backward compatibility confirmed. However, sources suggest a possible January announcement.
Magnetic Controllers and Joy-Con Drift Solution
The Switch 2 may feature magnetically attached Joy-Cons, eliminating the controller rail. A photo shows a 13-pin connector and a larger release button. Significantly, the new controllers could solve the infamous Joy-Con drift issue with magnetic Hall effect joysticks.
Redesigned Kickstand
The new console is rumored to have a U-shaped kickstand, appearing more robust than previous mockups. This design is also visible in the 3D CAD files.
Dock Details
While the dock reportedly lacks additional ports compared to the original (two USB-A, one HDMI, one ethernet, and one USB-C), it might have other features yet to be revealed.
