Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro Update: Squashing Those Visual Bugs
Alan Wake 2 players on the PS5 Pro have been experiencing image quality problems, performance hiccups, and issues with the console’s PSSR upscaling. A new update aims to fix these issues, even offering the option to disable PSSR altogether in favor of AMD’s FSR.
Digital Foundry noted image quality issues where FSR outperformed PSSR in Alan Wake 2, despite PSSR generally being superior in other games. Remedy is giving players control, letting them choose between the two upscaling methods.
The update introduces a new 40fps Balanced mode (for 120Hz displays), blending the visual quality of the Quality mode with the performance of the Performance mode. Performance mode also sees frame rate stabilization improvements, and ray-traced reflections are less noisy.
Key Improvements:
- PS5 Pro: New Balanced mode (40fps) for 120Hz displays.
- PS5 Pro: Performance mode frame rate improvements.
- PS5 Pro: Less noisy ray tracing in Quality and Balanced modes.
- PS5 Pro: Toggleable PSSR (on/off).
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed manuscript collectibles displaying incorrect pages in The Lake House.
- Fixed missing audio in The Lake House’s “Welcome to the Lake House” video collectible.
- Minor fixes and optimizations across all platforms.
The update is available now. Download it and enjoy a smoother, more visually appealing Alan Wake 2 experience!
