Epic Games Expands Fortnite Access on Android
Epic Games has partnered with Telefónica to pre-install the Epic Games Store on new Android devices. This significantly expands Fortnite and other Epic Games access.
Wider Reach for Fortnite and Epic Games Store
Telefónica customers in Spain, Latin America, Germany, and the UK will find the Epic Games Store pre-installed. This initiative aims to make Fortnite, Fall Guys, Rocket League Sideswipe, and future third-party games more accessible.
Epic Games describes this as a strategic alliance to create a more competitive ecosystem for Android users, offering an alternative to traditional app marketplaces. This move follows Epic’s legal battle with Apple after circumventing App Store payment rules in 2020.
Expanding Partnerships and Future Plans
Michael Modon, Epic Games’ senior director of growth partnerships, highlighted the ease of access the partnership provides. He expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations with Telefónica to further benefit players.
The news comes alongside Epic Games’ confirmation of continued support for Fortnite Festival, its Rock Band-style musical mode, into the future.
