Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl Launches – Minor Issues, But Fixes Promised
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, developed by GSC Game World, has officially launched on Xbox and PC. However, the release isn’t without its technical challenges, impacting Eurogamer’s review timeline.
Addressing the Issues
GSC Game World acknowledged the game’s “rough edges” in a social media statement. They’ve committed to addressing player feedback and fixing problems quickly via hotfixes in the initial days post-release. More substantial updates and free content are planned, with details to be shared in December.
A Long and Difficult Development
The studio recently released a documentary, War Game: The Making of Stalker 2, detailing the challenges of developing the game amidst Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Since 2022, GSC has faced numerous setbacks including delays, staff relocation, and dealing with Russian hackers who leaked test builds. Some staff even joined the Ukrainian armed forces.
Looking Ahead
Despite the hurdles, GSC expressed excitement about the launch and future plans for the Stalker universe. They stated their commitment to the player base, emphasizing that “The Zone belongs to you. Have fun.”
