WoW Classic Gets Fresh Servers, Cataclysm Players Move to Pandaria
New Vanilla Servers Launching November 21
World of Warcraft Classic players who have been yearning for fresh “vanilla” servers are finally getting their wish. New servers will go live on November 21 in celebration of WoW’s 20th anniversary. These new servers will automatically progress to The Burning Crusade Classic when the time comes. While Blizzard has confirmed TBC, they haven’t committed to further expansion progression for these new servers.
Quality-of-Life Improvements and GDKP Ban
These new servers will feature quality-of-life improvements such as the Chronoboon Displacer, faction balancing on PvP realms, and updates to make the original game’s Honor PvP rank system less punishing. A ban on GDKP runs (at least in North America and Europe) will also be implemented. There will also be a group-finder tool to help players find groups.
Cataclysm Players Progress to Mists of Pandaria in 2025
Cataclysm Classic servers will move on to Mists of Pandaria in Summer 2025. While players may have revisited Mists of Pandaria as part of modern WoW’s Mists of Pandaria Remix event earlier this year, Blizzard believes that the classic experience is different enough to warrant another go around.
Season of Discovery Continues with New Content
Season of Discovery will continue with new content, including the Naxxramas update, new instanced content in the form of a new encounter against the Scarlet Crusade as well as the Karazhan Crypts. Blizzard learned a lot from the experimental Season of Discovery and plans to continue with new content for Classic.
