Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Remake Stays Loyal
A Faithful Remake of a Classic
The Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake has been a long time coming, and fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting its release. After playing the entire Virtuous Mission at a recent Konami event in London, I’m happy to report that the remake stays true to the original game’s spirit.
Preserving Memories, Not Reimagining Them
Unlike the polarizing Twin Snakes remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, Delta seems more interested in preserving and updating memories of Snake Eater rather than presenting its own dramatically altered version of it. The game’s cutscenes, character art, and even little details like holding R1 to look through Snake’s eyes are perfectly replicated, with the only notable changes being the dramatically improved visuals.
Gameplay Updates and Quality-of-Life Changes
The remake also features numerous welcome gameplay updates, including modernized controls, a handy camo menu, and a useful tooltip system for the CQC (close quarters combat) system. These changes make the game feel more accessible and enjoyable to play, while still maintaining the original’s challenging gameplay.
A Loyal Remake, Not a Reimagining
Overall, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a loyal remake that stays true to the original
