Hades 2 Early Access Update Brings New Region and Content
Hades 2, the sequel to Supergiant Games’ 2020 roguelike action-adventure, has received its first major content update, adding a new region, weapon, and more. This update is called the Olympic Update and it’s a significant expansion to the game.
What’s New in the Olympic Update
The Olympic Update adds a new region, Olympus, which is the mountain of the gods. This region consists of multiple new locations, and Supergiant has also added new locations to several other existing regions. In addition to this, the update includes a new weapon called Xinth’s Black Coat, two new allies with unique Keepsakes, and two new Animal Familiars: Raki the Raven and Hecuba the Hound.
Other Key Additions
Other key additions to the game include dozens of new cosmetic items, hours of new dialogue, and a new world map that appears as the protagonist MelinoĆ« moves between regions. The update also adds native support for Apple’s M1 Macs.
Full Patch Notes and Release Information
Supergiant’s full patch notes can be found on Steam, along with a 27-minute long dramatic reading of the patch notes. Hades 2 is currently expected to leave early access next year, and a release for unspecified consoles is also on the cards.
The game has already received positive reviews, with Eurogamer contributor Christian Donlan calling it “comfortable and familiar” and armed with the “power of surprise”.
