Delta Force: Hawk Ops, A Competent and Stable Military Shooter
The modern military shooter genre is currently in a state of uncertainty. With Battlefield and Call of Duty struggling to find their footing, a new game has emerged to potentially take their place: Delta Force: Hawk Ops. Developed by Team Jade and published by TiMi Studio Group, this free-to-play military shooter is based on the classic Delta Force series and offers a mix of large-scale multiplayer battles and tactical engagements.
Gameplay and Features
Hawk Ops is currently in alpha testing and offers two game modes: Havoc Warfare and Tactical Turmoil. Havoc Warfare is a large-scale attack/defense scenario, similar to Battlefield’s Rush mode, where players control a range of ‘Operators’ with unique abilities and equipment. The mode features a mix of infantry and vehicle combat, with a focus on teamwork and strategy.
Tactical Turmoil, on the other hand, is a more tactical mode that draws inspiration from extraction shooters like Hunt: Showdown and Escape from Tarkov. Players must infiltrate a large map, gather loot, and extract at designated points, all while avoiding AI enemies and other players.
A Promising Start
While Hawk Ops may not be entirely original, it has all the right ingredients to be a great military shooter. The gameplay is satisfying, the maps are well-designed, and the modes offer a good mix of action and strategy. If the game can deliver a decent single-player experience, it could potentially challenge the dominance of Battlefield and Call of Duty. With its free-to-play model and promising gameplay, Delta Force: Hawk Ops is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
