Classic DOS Horror Game Gets a 3D Remake
A Blast from the Past, Reimagined in 3D
Get ready for a nostalgic horror experience! Last Half of Darkness (LHOD), a pioneering DOS horror game from 1989, is getting a stunning 3D remake. Thirty-six years after its initial release, creator William R. Fisher III is reimagining this point-and-click adventure with modern graphics and gameplay.
The original LHOD, developed on a limited XT PC, was a low-resolution adventure with simple graphics. The new 35th-anniversary edition promises a fully interactive 3D world, expanded areas to explore, and plenty of B-movie-style jump scares.
Key Features of the Remake:
- Fully realized 3D environments
- Expanded puzzles and gameplay
- Haunting soundtrack
- Adjustable difficulty levels
The original two-part LHOD is available as a free download. The 35th-anniversary edition, however, promises a “psychological horror experience” retaining the core mystery: uncovering the secrets surrounding the player’s deceased aunt, a witch working on a mysterious potion in her mansion, Paraíso Del Norte.
This remake is a welcome surprise for fans of the original and a great opportunity for new players to experience this classic horror adventure in a whole new way. You can find the original game here and the upcoming 35th-anniversary edition on Steam.
