EA Origin shuts down: Switch to EA app now
EA Origin is Shutting Down
After a long run, EA’s Origin platform is officially shutting down on April 17th, 2024. Users must transition to the EA App to continue accessing their games and data.
Why is Origin Shutting Down?
EA cites Microsoft’s discontinuation of 32-bit software support as the reason for Origin’s closure. The EA App requires a 64-bit version of Windows.
Switching to the EA App
Here’s what you need to do:
- Download the EA App.
- Transfer your game saves. Cloud saves should transfer automatically; games without cloud support will require manual migration.
Important Note: If you have a 32-bit Windows PC, you’ll need to upgrade to a 64-bit system to use the EA App.
EA and Steam
EA is increasingly releasing its games on Steam. This means that many titles will now bypass the EA App entirely.
Take Action Now
Avoid last-minute issues. Download the EA App and transfer your saves before April 17th to ensure uninterrupted access to your EA games.
