Hollow Knight Silksong: Coming Soon, Dev Confirms
Hollow Knight Silksong: A Development Update
The highly anticipated sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, is officially still in development and will be released, according to PR and marketing lead Matthew ‘Leth’ Griffin. This confirmation follows a flurry of speculation sparked by co-creator William Pellen’s social media activity.
Debunked ARG and Social Media Buzz
Pellen’s profile picture change to a slice of cake ignited fan theories of an ARG (alternate reality game) hinting at a release date. However, this was quickly debunked. YouTuber fireb0rn confirmed that Griffin stated the cake and related social media posts were not part of a planned ARG.
Despite the debunked ARG, Griffin’s tweet confirmed the game’s continued development: “Yes the game is real, progressing and will release.
What’s Next for Silksong?
Fans had connected Pellen’s cake picture (from a recipe posted April 2nd, 2024), his “something big is coming” post, and the timing before the Switch 2 reveal, to speculate a Silksong release announcement. While this proved incorrect, anticipation for Silksong remains high.
Silksong, the sequel to the popular Metroidvania Hollow Knight (first announced in 2019), has faced multiple delays. The game’s eventual release is highly anticipated by fans who have already experienced a demo.
