Indie Game Paused: Dev Faces Three-Year Prison Sentence
The popular indie FPS game, Fortune’s Run, will be on hold for three years due to its sole developer, Dizzie, facing a prison sentence.
A Difficult Situation
Dizzie shared on the game’s Steam page that he’s been sentenced to three years in prison. He explained that this stems from a five-year-old legal case related to his life before game development. He acknowledges the consequences of his past actions.
The game’s other developer recently left the project due to personal reasons, including a botched surgery. Dizzie has been working tirelessly to complete the game before his imprisonment, managing to finish the bulk of the work despite this.
The Future of Fortune’s Run
Dizzie assures players that development will pause until his release, expressing his understanding of their disappointment. He clarifies that despite his legal issues, Fortune’s Run’s sales have allowed him to be financially stable. He hopes to complete the remaining content after his release.
While the game isn’t entirely dead, its future is uncertain due to unforeseen circumstances. Dizzie’s identity and the specifics of his crime remain undisclosed; however, he admits to a violent past, stating that he hurt many people.
Before his imprisonment, Dizzie plans to release another update. He’s already created stubs and prototypes for the missing levels.
