Apple’s revised App Store Review Guidelines have opened the doors for retro game emulators. Following the rule change, many emulators previously available only via side-loading are now transitioning to the App Store.
Emulators Now Available
Several emulators have already launched, offering support for various classic consoles:
- Delta: Supports Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, Nintendo DS, NES, SNES, and Nintendo 64.
- Consoles: A multi-platform emulator for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.
- eNES: A lightweight NES emulator.
- Emu64 XL: A Commodore 64 emulator.
- Folium: Supports Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo DS (with PlayStation and Sega Genesis support in development).
- Gamma: A PlayStation 1 emulator.
- iDOS 3: An x86 emulator for DOS games and software.
- iMSX2: An MSX and MSX2 emulator.
- RetroArch: A frontend for various emulators.
- Retroman: An 8-bit emulator for NES games.
